Sekian.
I am totally agree with this article. Apparently, this is what happen to our nature of employment these days. I am into this problem, been unemployed for 3 months since I finished my studies. Am i under qualified or over qualified? I am, graduate of Bachelor sc (hons) Computing n IT from a well-known university. My course has been approved by the accredited body (LAN) and I hef few experiences but there are all only temporary works. But I believes the experiences are all make a good benefit for me. Even though I never have experience in computing field. What the heck?!! Networking, cabel..? Always come to this matters! Do I have to bend my knees and appeal poorly to ask for help me. Can I prove that I can do it, without help?

There is a lot of jobs out there...it is up to us to find the right one..most important thing...we need to be independently and hardworking to cope with environment nowadays.dont blame government for their mistake of rising cost of living or company that offer lower salary..fresh grads need to know what is their aim.they shoud have mission and vision in their life as well.there is always opportunity out there.its just that we should not wait for it to come.we need to find and think properly.use your mind why u chose that course at first place.well, if u think it is not right for the job market then dont go for it.dont expect everything will be easy.this world is for achievers and not for losers.all of us are winner, but winner need to think how to stay in the game.for those fresh grads which they felt they already in right track of studies and want to apply what they had learned in Uni, it is time now to be creative.Never wait until a year to find your dream job.think creatively how to CREATE the job.I have seen many drop out student did something impressively and geniusly in creating their own job a.k.a BUSINESS.Can't you see it ?? Even DROP OUT like them can think how to solve problems. For those grads, you should be shame as you have the degree and stuffs. For those who lacked in English proficiency, think why u are in that situation? I believe all of us (fresh grads) went to school and study English.its not 1 or 2 years..almost more than 10 years.so what is the problem? its in you. This issue will never be solve.Actually I felt a bit unhappy why do Government need to train those fresh grads...i thought Higher Ins. provided more than enough to be a good student and feed knowledge.some of them even 6 years doing business degree or management.its a REALLY REALLY waste of time(maybe for professional field it is require until that much of time, but for me,a business degree 4 years already maximum). For those fresh grads that so picky in choosing their job.get a life.think about yourself.how much you worth it for demanding a high salary? whether your are having professional or just a general degree..dont be too ridiculous in expecting a starting pay.of course, we as fresh grads will be valuable in time.
Let me tell you a story, I just graduated, June 2007...and I started right away searching jobs after completion of studies.of course, we want something that related to us, and we want high salary.for us, MONEY is EVERYTHING. I had chit chat with friends about job market..well, most of them only know how to talk, not walk the talk. For instance, fact that there is fresh graduate earn 4k a month is true, but its not for all field. Then I started to think.how worth I am?
Next thing is to plan yourself.list down your preferred field and closest to that field so you will have more options in searching a job.Resume , Cv or what ever you call it must be prepared in an excellent way.even picture is vitally important! others including structure, language, appearance bla bla...(theres alot of technique to write resume, i just use which my lecturer thought me when I was in my first year degree)
After that get yourself a cover letter.just copy from internet, customize to your own preferences.
(if you can do on your own, thats good!)
when these 2 things completed, print 40 copies of it, as well as 40 passport photo and distribute to all your preferred company.JOKING! =P
Okay, now you have the important things.time to searching for advertisement.this could be from internet, newspapers, career fair or what ever it is.
find as many as you can and for cost savings, just EMAIL your resume (well some high profile company have their own career website..thats good! - easier for us)
we dont need to spend Ringgits to print out until you run out of your A4 paper.plan carefully.look which company gives positive feedback.when they ask for interview, then you print out the copy of your resume.(trust me it saves alot!)
me myself applied i think..almost 90 companies..MNC , GLC, bhd, sdn bhd...
apart from that ridiculous applications that I had sent out, I managed to get some interview session with them..some of it screwed up, bcoz it is very hard (im not even a 2nd class upper student)
Well, 2 times are very hard to believe that I failed the interview. What to do? post mortem.thats important.
I had learned something very useful about interview.I turned the failed interview, as a motivation to me. It does helped me where I figured out what is my weakness and strengths.
And then I managed to get this one interview from MNC company, I made them comfortable with me, actively answering, give opinions, say what is the interviewers want to hear, answer carefully, think before speak out and voila, they hired me to fill up the position.(Actually the job its not my interest and not my main field in course work of degree-at least I have done the effort tried to find a job!)
I just got lucky, where my company provided newbies with excellent and warm welcome into the company.I found that the job has an excellent career growth and future prospects.
So fresh grad out there, dont worry if you never found your dream job.try something new but must practical with your needs and you will find one, better of what you had think before.
this world is just not enough.there are still plenty of opportunities that waiting for you.all you need is to THINK.dont blame others.its in you.
